Kyle Beal’s practice is principally concerned with contemporary life; the tradition of making of art; and notions of self-expression. Language is the foremost device from which thoughts and concepts are developed and constructed. Language is often put into the service the image/ object, with word play and irony engaged to disrupt, and complicate what could otherwise be taken literally. The disciplines of drawing, photography and sculpture are chiefly engaged in representing his investigations.

Kyle spent his first 23 years in Calgary AB attending public schools and the Alberta College of Art and Design, receiving few awards, but a H.S and a College diploma all the same. Restless attended the University of Victoria in Victoria, British Columbia, graduating in 2004 with his MFA. Kyle currently resides in Montréal QC.
